Valentyn Hamei – Counsel in the Litigation and Dispute Resolution Practice, one of the leading attorneys in the War Damages Compensation Practice, and attorney in the International Arbitration and Cross-Border Litigation Practice with over sixteen years of legal experience. Valentyn is the project team lead at ARMADA Law Firm.
Valentyn specializes in handling complex commercial and administrative disputes, debt restructuring and settlement matters, and has extensive experience representing clients in commercial arbitration proceedings.
Prior to joining ARMADA Law Firm, Valentyn worked in banking and financial institutions, including as Head of the Litigation Department. He managed a team of 7 lawyers and attorneys. There, he gained substantial practical experience with distressed assets, bankruptcy proceedings, and restructuring of “problem” debts.

Valentyn's recent experience includes:
- Defense of the interests of the pharmaceutical company Alba Healthcare Limited, Hong Kong, in a commercial arbitration case exceeding EUR 2,150,000.
- Litigation support for a subsidiary of one of the world’s largest producers, processors, and traders of agricultural products in a case for the recovery of over EUR 450,000. The litigation and dispute resolution team led by Valentyn provided comprehensive legal assistance in the procedure of recovering losses related to the client’s additional costs incurred due to forced replacement of goods not delivered by an unscrupulous counterparty under supply contracts. Due to the counterparty’s improper fulfillment of its contractual obligations regarding the delivery of goods in full and on time, the company had to procure the required goods from other suppliers. However, due to market price increases, the client had to enter into supply contracts for sunflower seeds at a higher price than originally agreed, resulting in significant additional expenses. The team developed a strong and well-reasoned legal strategy to protect the client’s rights and interests, which ultimately led to full satisfaction of the claims by the court.
- Legal support for the protection of the interests of GENTMED, Latvia, in a court dispute exceeding EUR 700,000. The non-resident company approached ARMADA Law Firm for legal assistance in recovering a debt from a counterparty under debt transfer agreements. The litigation and dispute resolution team led by Valentyn collected the necessary evidence, developed a legal position, and filed a claim for the recovery of the debt, which was fully satisfied by the commercial court.
- Representation of a leading international company engaged in the production, distribution, and sale of a wide range of tobacco products in a dispute against the State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection.
- Representation of a leading Ukrainian technology company supplying equipment, technologies, and integrated solutions for key sectors of the Ukrainian economy in three debt recovery cases and the protection of its interests as a creditor in the bankruptcy proceedings of one of the debtors.
- Provision of legal assistance to a client in litigation regarding the termination of an investment agreement, recovery of damages under that agreement, and penalties totaling UAH 29,964,031.64. The court of first instance partially upheld the claim and awarded UAH 1,392,254.43 in damages and UAH 1,300,000 in penalties against our client. Valentyn developed a strong procedural strategy at the appellate stage, prepared and filed an appeal against the decision, which was upheld by the appellate court. The appellate court overturned the first-instance decision regarding the monetary recovery from our client and dismissed the claim in this part.
- Legal support in the protection of a group of companies in the recovery of damages caused by the armed aggression of the Russian Federation, totaling over USD 1,500,000. A group of business entities whose immovable and movable property was destroyed or lost due to the aggression approached ARMADA Law Firm. Valentyn Hamei and the litigation and dispute resolution team collected the necessary evidence, formed the legal position, and prepared claims against the Russian Federation for the recovery of damages. As a result, the court fully upheld the client’s claims and ordered the aggressor state to compensate the losses.
